That's funny, Julie said that Rita dying on Dexter opened up the show to go in any direction they wanted. It means she never realized her character had become the lynchpin holding back Dexter, himself and, therefore, the show.
Even though, naturally, Dexter *wants* her... in his mind, for the desire to become normal but, in reality, as camouflage.
